  • Rick London On Cartooning
Since I launched my cartoon business a decade ago, many have asked me how to get into cartooning, or some similar artistic endeavor, especially if, like me, art is not their strongest skill. Before I entered "the trade", I too, was curious about how a number seemed to "sneak in" these so called "glamour-fields" and many were no better artists than me, and I am no Picasso.
  • The Cow Mafia
I'm a bovine author. Name is Truman Cowpoke and I write mooder mysteries. I write about the life of cows, violence, and yes, even bovine death. Words cannot express the horror I feel, as a mystery writer of true cow crime while researching the death and destruction that can occur in "greener pastures". Of course there are no cowincidences and anyone who says there are may just be udderly silly and full of b.s.
  • Can Laughter Prevent Aging?
Do we really need humor? How important is laughter in our lives? For many years, we knew humor was fun, and laughter made us feel better, but we didn't know the full story. Recent studies at University Of Md. Medical School point towards laughter being not just important, but pertinent to our health, job and relationships.
  • Increase The Quality Of Life Of Your Dog Or Cat 100-Fold
Since our pets cannot afford lawyers so we have to be their advocates. Much has been discussed regarding the B.A.R.F. diet for pets, but still very little research behind it. I happen to know it works as I almost had my 12 year old stray mutt put to sleep in 1996, at age 12, at the veterinarian's suggestion, but decided to research a bit more myself before making such an important decision. He lived another 10 years (to age 22), vet-free, except to the very part of his happy life. He was an amazing creature, and the b.a.r.f. diet, and a lot of love and attention provided for that.

He lived another 10 years (to age 22), vet-free, except to the very last six months of his life.
  • Laughter And Cardiovascular Health
Laughter is the best medicine. We've all heard that. If not the best, certainly good for you. Scientific studies have shown that mental stress can restrict blood flow to the heart. But now a study has linked laughter to increased blood circulation. Laughter appears to cause the tissue inside blood vessels to expand. Medical science feels that laughter may be important to increase your hearth health
  • Becoming A Celebrity Is Easier Than You Think
I turned on the tv early last night and then went into the kitchen and couldn't see the screen but I heard a voice that I remembered always sent chills down my spine. I walked into the living room and sure enough, staring me in the face, swastika on forehead, cigarette in hand, Charles Manson, probably one of the most notorious figures of our lifetime.
  • the zen of cartoon humor
Humans are visual animals. We react to what we see. And to a lesser degree, we are auditory. Sounds can cause a reaction.
  • the zen of humor and cartooning
The most sensual and visual animal is known as the human. We react to what we see. And to a lesser degree, we are auditory. Sounds can cause a reaction too, and the combination of them can change our lives. But even one of the other can do the same, if, it changes our perception of things. Especially in the realm of humor.
  • Why People Should Salute The Far Side's Gary Larson....still
I like to pontificate about The Far Side because I can only name a few humorists who had a great impact on my life before I launched Londons Times Cartoons. Two were cartoonists and one of them had a very major impact, Gary Larson The others were comedians and actors such as Steve Martin, Mike Myers, Steven Wright, Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Jackie Gleason, Lucy, Rowan & Martin, Peter Sellers, and several dozen others. One other cartoonist was the late great Charles Schulz, and they all influenced me in a different way.
  • It's All Gary Larson's (the Far Side) Fault
I was a power-type-of-guy in Washington, D.C. in the mid-1980's. I had a cushy job, and wore nice clothes. I resided near the Smithsonian on Capital Hill, a place I rarely frequented unless company was in from out of town.
  • T-shirts: America's Most Popular Gift
Art and cartoon-designed t-shirts have been a part of my life since I was a child. At fifty three, I still enjoy wearing a tee over a suit. But it has to be the right tshirt, one that matches my personality. There are so many from which to choose. So how do I find that "perfect one"?
  • Cartooning: Where Is The Money?
There was a time when a cartoonist had to be newspaper syndicated to "be somebody" (with apologies to Steve Martin in "The Jerk"). But even then, as now, the real money was not in newspapers. Besides, the chances of becoming a part of a major newspaper syndication are close to a million to one. One should just buy lottery tickets.
  • Five Things You Must Do To Be A Professional Humorist
There are as many ways to enter the field of stand-up comedy, cartooning, comedy acting, and writing as there are IPODS and accessories. Okay, maybe not quite that many, but a lot of paths.
  • Internet's Top Cartoonist Shares Simple Secrets Of Humor
More than once, people have asked me "How do you become funny?" Sometimes I don't know if that is a compliment or a complaint. It has always been a question I've pondered because "funny" is not a major in college, we don't study and get our degree in funny.
  • So You Want Your Own Private Brand
Long before the Internet Calvin Klein knew it, Ralph Lauren, even Famous Amos knew it, as did so many others. Think of all the brand names you buy. Have you ever wondered how they did it?
  • Niche Marketing As Viewed From Eastern Thought
I went back to college at age 47 as I was beginning to discover the world was leaving me behind. Not only was I a terrible student in my early 20's even if I had been a good one, nothing counted. Not much in the world of marketing and pr is very relavent. In fact, my recent college accepted not one credit of my 63 hours from a major state university. So be it.
