6 Powerful Ways To Stay Honest With Your Actions & Goals!

It can be easy in life to be less than 100% truthful with ourselves when it comes to our actions. In a personal development endeavour this happens when you get 'faked out' and pretend to yourself that you're doing the right thing when you actually aren't. In the following article are some excellent ways to ensure you're not faking progress to yourself but, in fact, are moving forward with great strides.

One of the most effective ways to know for sure if you're making progress with your goals is to track it. Tracking can easily be done by making a chart so that you can have proof in front of your eyes which shows whether you're actually doing what you should be doing. If you've committed to a home study course in order to learn some new skills and decide to study for 40 minutes everyday then you can make a chart, hang it up on your wall and then you'll have accurate records in front of you everyday which show precisely what steps you've taken towards the goal.

It's of the utmost importance that you be honest with yourself and don't try and deny reality and the facts. Some 'gurus' in the personal development industry advise the use of affirmations to get your actions to improve, however, it's important not to mistake saying the affirmations for following through and taking the actions you know you must. With or without affirmations, you still take action to achieve the outcomes you desire.

The self development industry at its best is a wonderful source of inspiration and useful advice, however, at its worst it can lead to delusion and looking for miracles which aren't going to happen. It's important to evaluate the self development resources that you are using to improve your life and make sure they are full of solid principles that have worked for many people for many years and aren't just the latest fads or hype designed to drain your wallet and leave you with nothing but dashed hopes.

Be realistic and work with the resources and within the parameters that are available to you. For example, if you are now 30 years old and just starting golf then to set a goal to win a major would be a poor goal and almost impossible. However, to set a goal to have a single figure handicap within 3-5 years would be a very challenging but also highly achievable goal that would be both exciting and attainable.

Try and get a friend who is also setting goals and trying to do positive things with his/her life. If you can pair up to encourage each other and monitor each others' progress then it can be a powerful influence on both of your lives. The most important thing when setting up this sort of goal partnership is to be honest and tell your buddy if they are slipping up and not taking the actions that they should be.
